Foreign subsidiaries

The UK remains an attractive environment to do business in as far as many other countries are concerned and, as a result, a substantial number of foreign companies continue to set up branches or subsidiaries in the UK.

A company from overseas seeking to start trading in the UK can have many of the difficulties of a UK start-up business, but can also have an extra set of difficulties of its own.  It is highly unlikely that it will be worth the directors and management of an overseas company familiarising themselves with the detail of the UK's accounting and taxation regime.

At Robertshaw Myers we act for a number of UK subsidiaries of European holding companies, reporting to their management and their auditors. In addition, we can also help to establish management information systems that will enable the company's head office to monitor the activities of their branch and maintain control over its finances.

We are well placed to advise on practical aspects of setting up in the UK. As well as providing the audit and corporation tax services that they require in common with UK companies, we can also help find professionals in those areas outside our expertise and liaise with them on your behalf.
